SOMNIA

FAQ

Questions about Somnia, answered directly.

Short, factual answers about the Somnia sleep tracker and smart alarm for Android. The first sentence of each answer is the whole answer.

Does Somnia record audio?

No. Somnia never records or saves audio.

Sound sensing is optional. When it is on, the app measures how loud the room is, live on your phone, to draw a calm vs restless timeline of your night. No recording is made, stored or uploaded.

Will Somnia let me oversleep?

No: snooze works until one minute after your set wake time, and after that the alarm only offers Stop.

Before bed, the "Alarm armed" check confirms that exact alarms, notifications, full-screen alerts and battery settings let Android ring your alarm on time. In the morning, a log shows when the alarm rang.

Does Somnia show sleep stages?

Only real ones: Somnia shows deep, light and REM sleep when a watch or ring recorded them, reading them read-only from Health Connect.

A phone cannot measure brain activity, so Somnia never invents sleep stages from phone data. Without a wearable, you get sleep timing and duration, a nightly report, a sleep score and a calm vs restless timeline instead.

Is Somnia free?

Yes. The alarm, the bedtime plan, sleep tracking and every past night are free, and there are no ads.

Somnia Pro is optional. It adds Smart Wake, sleep regularity and social jetlag, tags, sleep need and sleep debt, a doctor-ready PDF report, all suggestions, long-term trends and the trend widget. You can choose yearly (with a free trial when offered), monthly, or a one-time lifetime unlock.

Does Somnia work in Spanish?

Yes. Somnia is available in English and Spanish.

It also supports both 12-hour and 24-hour clocks.

Does Somnia work offline, and where is my data?

Sleep tracking and the alarm run on your phone, and sleep data Somnia reads from Health Connect is read-only and stays on your phone.

Somnia also has an account system, optional anonymous analytics and crash reports. The privacy policy explains exactly what is collected and why.

Is Somnia a medical device?

No. Somnia is a wellness app, not a medical device, and it does not diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any medical condition.

If you have ongoing trouble sleeping, loud snoring, or daytime sleepiness that affects your life, talk with a qualified clinician.

Which phones does Somnia work on?

Somnia works on Android phones running Android 8.0 or newer, and it is available on Google Play.

Real sleep stages need a watch or ring that writes sleep data to Health Connect.

Is Somnia available on iPhone?

Not yet. Somnia is available for Android only for now.

There is no iPhone release date to share at the moment.

How do I delete my Somnia account?

Open Settings in the app and choose Delete account, or follow the steps on the delete-account page.

You can also email getsomnia@gmail.com to ask for deletion.
